Election Information

(HB 305)
Elections – Bonds

The District does not currently have a pending bond election.

Elections – Directors

The next election for the District will be held on May 4, 2024.

To be qualified to serve as a director, a person shall be at least 18 years old, a citizen of the United States, a resident of the State of Texas, and be a qualified voter in the district.

Director candidacy filing requirements and deadlines are as follows:

To run for election to the District’s Board of Directors, a person must file an application for a place on the ballot. The application must be filed with the Secretary of the District’s Board of Directors or his designated agent by mail, fax or in person. An application may be downloaded/printed from the website of the Texas Secretary of State at https://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/forms/pol-sub/2-21f.pdf.

There are two Director positions up for election this term. Current Directors Russell Rush and Robert Wegner have expressed their interest in continuing to serve on the MUD Board.  However, any qualified person can submit an application to run for these seats. If contested, the two candidates receiving the most votes will be elected for a 4-year term.

Because the MUD is a governmental body, MUD elections are very different than an HOA election.   If a contested election is held, it will be similar to that of a state or county election with paid election officials and paid poll workers, an early voting period, absentee ballots, etc.  The total cost of a contested MUD election would likely be between $15,000-30,000.

If no additional applications are submitted, the election process will not be necessary, and the current Directors will continue to serve another term.

An elected Director will attend MUD Board meetings, and other related events on behalf of the MUD. The MUD Board regularly meets at 12:00 noon on the 2nd Monday of each month at its administrative offices located in the Galleria area. Directors are also required to complete certain state-provided trainings.  MUD’s in general are highly regulated and all Directors are responsible for overseeing the MUD’s compliance with the rules and regulations related to water, sewer and drainage services.  If you are interested in knowing more about the MUD, please contact any of the current members of the Board of Directors.  https://www.hcmud341.org/contact/
