This week HC MUD 341 will begin replacing sidewalk panels directly adjacent to MUD manholes where either the concrete sidewalk directly adjacent to the manhole is significantly cracked or a potential trip hazard has developed adjacent to the manhole. The manholes themselves are significant structures that extend up to 20 feet below ground and have not moved over time. However, the adjacent concrete sidewalk panels are likely moving due to tree roots, settlement, and irrigation related ground shifting. We applaud the HOA’s efforts to encourage homeowners to level sidewalks to eliminate trip hazards. The process of leveling a sidewalk adjacent to a manhole can inadvertently damage the manhole structure. Therefore, the MUD has chosen to do this work for the community for panels adjacent to MUD manholes. Below is a list of locations included in the program. As mentioned, the MUD is only addressing those locations where a manhole is located directly adjacent to a significantly affected sidewalk panel. The project will take up to one month, although individual segments will be only a few days. If you believe an affected sidewalk has not been included in our plan, please submit pictures to our engineer, Jacob Bullard, at jbullard@idseg.com.
For those whose sidewalks are included, please cooperate with our contractor and do not park on the street in front of the affected panels during the replacement process. Thank you in advance for your assistance.
